Pharmacies have a critical role to play in safeguarding the nation’s healthcare system and ensuring proper use of controlled substances. In the face of the nation’s Opioid Epidemic, pharmacists must fulfill their professional obligations to exercise corresponding responsibility. The validation, dispensing, and counseling of controlled substances by pharmacists is a critical intervention point for resisting opioid misuse and ensuring safe and effective healthcare for the public.

Requirements for Successful Course Completion In order to earn credit for this course, participants must review the course material and complete each corresponding assessment with a grade of 70% or higher. Three chances to pass each assessment will be given. If a passing score is not earned by the third attempt, the participant must re-enroll in the course. Upon successful completion of all coursework, participants must complete a course evaluation form. Credit Designation This Continuing Pharmacy Education program is approved for a total of 2.00 contact hour(s). You will receive credit for this activity through NABP's CPE Monitor system within 72 hours following the activity. Please go online at that time to view your statement of credit. 1. Review laws and regulations related to prescribing, inventory records and dispensing of controlled substances to ensure patient access to pain management.
2. Describe professional judgment regarding assessment of prescriptions for appropriate therapeutic value.
3. Review and recognize proper use of E-FORCSE® (Electronic-Florida Online Reporting of Controlled Substances Evaluation program).
4. Review corresponding responsibility tools available to pharmacists that help detect prescriptions not based on a legitimate purpose.

Continuing Pharmacy Education Requirements
Pharmacy continuing education credit will be earned based on completion of this activity. To receive continuing education credit, your completion must be verified, and a program evaluation must be completed and submitted at the end of the program. Credit will be issued through the CPE Monitor and CE Broker websites.

Florida pharmacist (or Florida consultant pharmacist) numbers, NABP e-Profile ID numbers and participant’s Month and Day of Birth are required for credit issuance. UF CPE is not responsible for unissued education credits where the required information is either omitted or submitted incorrectly. UF CPE will contact registrants once by email to attempt to obtain missing or invalid information.
